This summer we will offer 2016 NJ Honeybee Queens including Carniolan and VSH Queens for sale from June through early August. Mary normally begins her grafting operation usually the 1st week of May. We let our young queens open-mate and make certain they have a good laying pattern before we sell them. The first May grafting is usually ready by the 2nd week of June.
For the last thirteen years underpinning our daily beekeeping activities has been our goal to diversify our Honeybees and make them stronger and healthier, naturally. From 2003 to 2008 we brought in Russian queens from Bob Brachman, Hubert Tubs, Ray Revis and Glen Apiaries as we transitioned from the Italian bee. Then in 2009 we began bringing in instrumentally inseminated Carniolan bees from Sue Cobey; and we continued every year up to and including 2015. Most recently we have begun adding VSH stock to our breeding operation. In 2015 we added a VP Queens instrumentally inseminated Spartan X Carniolan breeder queen. And this year in May we will be adding an additional Spartan X Carniolan breeder queen.
