New Jersey Senator Beck toured our Russian breeding yard last month. The purpose of the tour was twofold: to see one example of the agriculture use of honey bees in Monmouth County and to meet with the President of the New Jersey Beekeepers Association and New Jersey Department of Agriculture representatives to discuss the Farmland Assessment Law.
There has been much debate, within New Jersey, on how effective the New Jersey Farmland Assessment law has been since there have been numerous instances of abuse reported since the bill was in enacted into law in 1964. Senator Beck has introduced a draft bill which will update the Farmland Assessment law and reduce abuse.
