Inspected Snowed-in Honeybee Hives

Russian Breeding Yard

The snow is a formidable foe so far this winter…And earlier in the season than I can ever recall.

Ed trudged out thru high drifts to our backyard bees today. Many of them were completely covered by snow.  He pushed the piled snow away from the upper entrance holes. He noted no bee activity. The temperature is 25 degrees F, so no flight activity is expected.  The most we can do is an occasional check, and just wait it out.
