Mary’s Honeybee Pollen Patties

My homemade pollen patty is an important part of the diet we provide our queen bees to encourage strong egg production. Our young queens have nurse bees to support them, but may be short of foragers. We offer them a generous supply of a highly nutritious diet to ensure that they are not shortchanged. My recipe includes fresh natural pollen, Mega Bee the Tucson Bee Diet, and plain table sugar. I mix the combined ingredients with a small amount of water, until it is the right texture. The cell builder colony used for our grafting and each Mating Nuc receives a dollop of this mix on the top bars daily. You can see how they love it!
